Well water treatment & softening in Myakka City
Most homes out here are on private wells, and well water is our specialty. We test yours for free and design a system for what's actually in it.
What we see in Myakka City homes.
- 01
Sulfur smell
Hydrogen sulfide gives well water that rotten-egg smell. It's common in Florida wells and very fixable.
- 02
Iron staining
Orange and brown stains in sinks, toilets and laundry usually mean iron or iron bacteria.
- 03
Storm-proofing
Flooding can push bacteria into wells. UV treatment adds a layer of protection that runs all the time.
Most Myakka City homes are on wells, so they start with a free well test. The test and a quick call settle the design, and the quote comes in writing. See all three systems, or take the one-minute quiz.
Four things that go in writing on every quote.Hold us to them.
- The price on the quote is the price on the invoice. Anything unusual about your install gets its own flat price, in writing, before we start.
- Commercial-grade parts, bought wholesale. No brand markup, and no proprietary filters that only we can sell you.
- Standard fittings and standard media. Any plumber in Manatee County can service it. You're never tied to us.
- One short visit, and it isn't a pitch. Your utility already publishes what's in your water, so we start there. Before install day we stop by once for a short look at where your water comes in, so we can tell you in writing whether the job is standard, whether any extra work has a charge, and whether re-piping means bringing in a licensed plumber.
Well country.
Out along SR 70 in eastern Manatee County, most homes draw their water from private wells, not a public utility. That means nobody else is testing or treating it. The quality of your water depends on your well, how deep it is and what's happened around it.
Two problems come up again and again in Florida wells. Hydrogen sulfide gives water a rotten-egg smell, and the Florida Department of Health notes it can occur in wells anywhere in the state. Iron and iron bacteria leave orange-brown stains and an off taste. Neither is usually a health risk, but both are unpleasant and hard on plumbing. An oxidizing filter, a softener for hardness and UV for bacteria handle most of what we see.
Flooding is the other concern. After Hurricane Ian in 2022, county health officials tested hundreds of private wells and found contamination in dozens of them around Myakka City. FL DOH recommends testing private wells for bacteria and nitrate at least once a year, and for lead every three years. Test again after any flood, and disinfect the well if it's been under water.

What Myakka City homeowners ask us.
Is there county water in Myakka City?
Most homes here are on private wells. If you pay a water bill to Manatee County, you're on county water and we'll design for that instead. Otherwise you're on a well, and testing and treatment are up to you.
My well flooded. What should I do?
Don't drink the water until it's been tested. FL DOH advises disinfecting a flooded well and testing it for bacteria with a state-certified lab. Once it's clear, a UV system adds protection that runs all the time.
Why does only my hot water smell like rotten eggs?
That's usually the water heater's magnesium anode rod reacting with sulfate, often helped along by bacteria in the warm tank. Treating the water upstream helps, and sometimes swapping to a different anode does too. We'll check both.
Can one system handle sulfur and iron?
Often, yes. An air-injection oxidizing filter takes out hydrogen sulfide and iron together at typical well levels. Very high sulfide may need chlorine or peroxide injection instead. Your test results decide.
Do you come out this far?
Yes. Myakka City is in our service area, about an hour from our Bradenton base. Book a free well test and we'll find a time.
Nobody is coming to sit at your kitchen table.
Most companies want to come test your water so they can sit at your table and sell. We don't need to: your utility publishes exactly what's in it, every year. The one visit before install day is a short look at where your water comes in, so the price we put in writing covers any extra plumbing work.
