Water softeners and whole-home filtration, Bradenton, Florida

Your water. Only Safer.

Manatee County water comes out of the ground with up to 16 grains of limestone in every gallon and leaves the plant dosed with chloramine. We put a filter and a softener on your main line, in a day, at a price you can read on this site before anyone knocks on your door.

What the county's own 2025 report says

The county calls it “very hard.” So does your water heater.

16

grains of dissolved rock in every gallon

A grain is how the trade measures hardness: limestone the water picks up on its way through the Floridan aquifer, mostly calcium and magnesium. Manatee County's 2025 testing found up to 279 mg/L, which works out to 16 grains in every gallon that comes through your meter.

The U.S. Geological Survey's hardness scale, in mg/L. Manatee's high end is about 1.5 times the “very hard” line.
  • About 250 lb a yearThat's how much dissolved rock passes through an average home's pipes, faucets and water heater at that hardness. Some of it stays behind as scale.
  • Not just the kitchenThe shower, the dishwasher, the washing machine and the water heater all get the same water. A pitcher filter on the counter fixes one glass.
  • You already know the signsWhite crust on the faucet, spots on the glasses, towels that dry stiff, and skin that feels tight after a shower.

02Your water

What's actually coming out of a Manatee County tap.

Hard, and disinfected with chloramine. Pick one and we'll tell you what it does around the house and which part of the system deals with it.

Hardness: calcium and magnesium

It's why your faucets grow white crust.

How much of a problem here: High

Floridan Aquifer water picks up dissolved limestone on its way to your tap. That's the white crust on your faucets, the film on your glassware, and the reason your water heater works harder every year.

What you notice at home

  • Scale in water heaters & appliances
  • Dry skin, dull hair
  • More soap & detergent for the same clean

Levels are from the utilities' own published reports. On install day we measure your tap, before and after, and you keep the numbers.

Why this is worth doing now, not someday.

AI data centers are thirsty

The Floridan Aquifer supplies drinking water to almost 10 million people, and it's already struggling: early 2026 brought Florida's driest stretch in 25 years. Now AI data centers, which can use millions of gallons of water a day for cooling, are coming to Florida, adding more strain to a supply that's already stretched thin.

Bradenton is rebuilding

The city is partway through more than $100 million in wastewater upgrades after years of overflows into the Manatee River, with a new deep injection well due online in 2028. Another $35.1 million in state-administered disaster-recovery funding is going to how drinking water is treated, stored and delivered.

Bradenton Herald, Oct 2025 ABC7, Dec 2025
And your tap, today

What the City of Bradenton's own testing found in its water (inside city limits; county water differs, see your town):

  • 550 mg/L dissolved solids, over the EPA's 500 guideline
  • 288 mg/L sulfate, over the EPA's 250 guideline
  • Up to 5.6 ppm of chlorine and chloramine disinfectant at single test points (3.41 average)
  • 4 "forever chemicals" (short-chain PFAS) found at about 4 to 9 parts per trillion in EPA's federal testing (UCMR 5)

None of it breaks a health limit. But those limits are the bare minimum a utility has to meet for an entire city, not a standard to aim for. The water you drink, cook with and put on your family's skin should be held to a higher one. That's what a filter is for.

03How it works

Follow one drop through the system.

Shown: The Whole Home system.

Skip ahead to the three systems
Stage one of three: carbon

Where the taste changes.

Catalytic carbon pulls out chlorine and chloramine, the pool smell in your tap water. It is why the first shower feels different.

Stage two: the softener

Scale stops forming.

Resin beads trade calcium and magnesium for sodium, so crust stops building on fixtures and in your water heater. The brine tank beside it recharges the resin with salt, and the valve is metered, so it only recharges when the resin actually needs it.

Stage three: reverse osmosis, kitchen sink only

Drinking water, handled.

One line at the kitchen sink runs through reverse osmosis for drinking and cooking water, delivered at its own faucet. Everything you drink skips the salt, the chlorine, and most of what else the city report lists.

What hard water does when nobody deals with it

Scale doesn't stop at the faucet.

Every gallon of Manatee County water leaves a little calcium behind. The crust you can see on the faucet is also building inside the water heater, the pipes and the dishwasher, where you can't. Drag the line across to compare.

Your water heater

Minerals settle to the bottom of the tank as sediment and crust over the heating elements. The heater burns more energy to get through that layer, and it wears out sooner.

"Scaling impedes the flow of water and decreases heat conductivity, meaning that water heaters operate less efficiently."

EPA WaterSense, Water Softener Guide

Stop it at the main line. A softener on the line coming into the house treats every pipe, fixture and appliance after it. The crust never gets a chance to start.

The Whole Home

Chlorine-free, scale-free water at every tap, plus proper drinking water at the kitchen sink. This is the system we built the company around.

  • Two tanks side by side on the main line: catalytic carbon, then a 48,000-grain softener with its brine tank
  • Clack CI metered valve on the softener. Regenerates on the water you actually use, not a timer
  • 10% crosslinked resin, the longer-life resin, not the cheap 8% most systems ship with
  • Under-sink reverse osmosis with its own faucet

Whole Home, No RO

The same whole-home system without the drinking water unit. For homes that already have an RO, or just want the showers, laundry and appliances covered.

  • The same two tanks: catalytic carbon and a 48,000-grain softener
  • Clack CI metered valve on the softener

The math on doing nothing

Buying bottled water

$325 a year, at least

People in your home

4 people × 47.3 gallons = 189 gallons a year (about 1,430 half-liter bottles) × $1.72 a gallon = $325.

47.3 gallons is how much bottled water the average American drank in 2024. $1.72 is what bottlers took in per gallon ($28.2 billion for 16.4 billion gallons), before any store markup, so what you pay on the shelf is higher. A kitchen RO makes that water at your tap for the cost of its yearly filters.

What scale costs you later

  • $882–$1,826to replace a tank water heater. Every 5 grains of hardness costs a gas tank heater about 4% in efficiency, so up to about 13% at Manatee's 16 grains. Electric tanks collect about 1.3 lb of rock-hard scale a year at that hardness.
  • $500–$1,300for a new dishwasher, installed. On 15-grain water, softening cut the detergent needed by about 45%.
  • 75%of a showerhead's flow, lost in under 18 months on hard water.

Four things that go in writing on every quote.Hold us to them.

  1. The price on the quote is the price on the invoice. If your install needs something unusual, that gets its own flat price, in writing, before we start. Nothing gets added on the day.
  2. Commercial-grade parts, bought wholesale. No brand markup, and no proprietary filters that only we can sell you.
  3. Standard fittings and standard media. Any plumber in Manatee County can service it. You're never tied to us.
  4. One short visit, and it isn't a pitch. Your utility already publishes what's in your water, so we start there. Before install day we stop by once for a short look at where your water comes in, so we can tell you in writing whether the job is standard, whether any extra work has a charge, and whether re-piping means bringing in a licensed plumber.

06Book your install

Nobody is coming to sit at your kitchen table.

The usual routine in this business is a two-hour visit, a color-changing water demo and a price that expires at midnight. We skip all of it. Your utility publishes what's in your water every year and our prices are on this site. We do come out once before the install, for a short look at where your water comes in: it tells us whether the job is standard, whether anything extra has a charge, and whether any re-piping needs a licensed plumber. You get that in writing, then you pick the day.
