Water filtration & softening in Venice
Inside city limits, Venice water is treated by reverse osmosis and disinfected with chlorine. Outside the city it's usually Sarasota County water with chloramine. We check which one you have, quote a flat price in writing and install in a day.
What we see in Venice homes.
- 01
Chlorine taste
Both the city and the county disinfect the water, so the shower and kitchen tap can smell like a pool. Catalytic carbon takes it out at every tap.
- 02
Scale (county)
County water is softened to around 7 grains per gallon: enough to spot glass and scale tankless water heaters. City water is already very low in minerals.
- 03
Drinking water
An under-sink reverse osmosis (RO) drinking water system reduces PFAS, lead and dissolved solids at the kitchen tap.
City of Venice homes usually start with the Whole-house filter + Drinking Water; county homes with The Whole Home. Your utility's report and a quick call settle the final design. See all the systems and prices, or take the one-minute quiz. See whole-house filtration and the drinking water system.
Every quote puts the price in writing, and the price on the quote is the price on the invoice. Standard parts and fittings mean any plumber can service it. How to compare water companies.
Your address decides your water.
Inside city limits, including the island of Venice, the water comes from the City of Venice. The city pumps brackish water from the intermediate aquifer, treats it with reverse osmosis, runs it through aeration to remove the sulfur smell, and adds chlorine to disinfect it.
Because the city already treats its water with reverse osmosis, most city homes don't need a softener. What people notice is the chlorine. A whole-house carbon filter takes it out of every tap and shower, and an under-sink drinking water system takes care of what you drink and cook with. We'll tell you straight if a softener isn't worth it for your house.
Outside the city, in places like Venice Gardens and South Venice, most homes are on Sarasota County water, which is moderately hard and disinfected with chloramine. Those homes usually do best with The Whole Home. We check which utility serves your address before we quote.

What Venice homeowners ask us.
Do I need a water softener in Venice?
It depends on your utility. City of Venice water is treated by reverse osmosis, so it's already very low in minerals and most city homes don't need a softener. Sarasota County water outside the city is moderately hard, and a softener is worth it there. We check which one serves your address.
Will the equipment be on show?
No. We put the tanks in the garage, a utility room or under an elevated home, run the lines neatly, and leave nothing visible from the street. We use corrosion-resistant fittings near the water and plan where the tanks go with flood elevation in mind.
We're only here part of the year. Is that a problem?
No. The softener's metered valve only recharges when water has actually been used, so it doesn't waste salt or water while the house sits empty. When you come back after a few months away, run each tap for a few minutes to flush water that sat in the pipes. If a house watcher or property manager looks after the place, we can schedule the install and yearly service with them.
I'm in a condo. Can I still get filtration?
Usually. If the association doesn't allow whole-home equipment or there's no room for it, an under-sink reverse osmosis (RO) drinking water system and a shower filter cover what you drink and touch most. We'll look at your association's rules with you before you buy anything.
What does reverse osmosis actually remove?
Reverse osmosis (RO) is an under-sink drinking water system that pushes water through a very fine membrane. RO (drinking water) membranes reduce PFAS, lead, arsenic, nitrate, fluoride and most dissolved solids. Certification is claim by claim, so we install systems certified under NSF/ANSI 58 for the specific contaminants you care about, and we'll show you the listing.
Nobody is coming to sit at your kitchen table.
Most companies want to come test your water so they can sit at your table and sell. We don't need to: your utility publishes exactly what's in it, every year. The one visit before install day is a short look at where your water comes in, so the price we put in writing covers any extra plumbing work.
