Water filtration & softening in University Park

University Park is on Manatee County water: hard and disinfected with chloramine. We quote a flat price in writing, install in a day and keep the equipment out of sight.

01University Park water

What we see in University Park homes.

  • 01

    Hard water

Manatee County's 2025 water quality data lists total hardness of 106 to 279 mg/L, roughly 6 to 16 grains per gallon. It scales water heaters and spots glass and stone.

  • 02

    Chloramine

The county disinfects with chloramine. Our whole-home systems use catalytic carbon made to remove it.

  • 03

    Drinking water

An under-sink reverse osmosis (RO) drinking water system reduces PFAS, lead and dissolved solids at the kitchen tap.

Most University Park homes start with The Whole Home; larger homes often go with the Two-Tank Whole Home. Your utility's report and a quick call settle the final design. See all the systems and prices, or take the one-minute quiz. Read up on hard water and the chloramine taste.

Every quote puts the price in writing, and the price on the quote is the price on the invoice. Standard parts and fittings mean any plumber can service it. How to compare water companies.

02Local know-how

Your address decides your water.

University Park is served by Manatee County Utilities, which blends Lake Manatee reservoir water with Floridan aquifer wells and disinfects with chloramine. It meets drinking water standards, but it's hard: the county's 2025 data lists 106 to 279 mg/L, roughly 6 to 16 grains per gallon.

In a large home that hardness adds up: tankless water heaters scale, glass showers and stone counters spot, and fixtures lose their finish. A softener stops it, and catalytic carbon takes the chloramine taste and smell out of every tap. For bigger homes we often suggest the two-tank version, with a full-size softener and its own carbon tank.

The tanks go in the garage, neatly plumbed, with nothing visible from the street. We'll check your association's rules and confirm the spot on our short visit before install day.

03Questions

What University Park homeowners ask us.

We have a large home. Is one system enough?

Usually, if it's sized right. For bigger homes and busy households we often suggest the two-tank version: a full-size softener and its own carbon tank, each doing one job. It recharges less often and the carbon lasts longer. The written quote shows exactly what we'd install and why.

Is University Park water the same as Lakewood Ranch?

On the Manatee side, yes: both are Manatee County water, hard and disinfected with chloramine. Lakewood Ranch villages south of the county line are on Sarasota County water, which is softer. We check which utility serves your address.

Will the equipment be on show?

No. We put the tanks in the garage, a utility room or under an elevated home, run the lines neatly, and leave nothing visible from the street. We use corrosion-resistant fittings near the water and plan where the tanks go with flood elevation in mind.

We're only here part of the year. Is that a problem?

No. The softener's metered valve only recharges when water has actually been used, so it doesn't waste salt or water while the house sits empty. When you come back after a few months away, run each tap for a few minutes to flush water that sat in the pipes. If a house watcher or property manager looks after the place, we can schedule the install and yearly service with them.

What does reverse osmosis actually remove?

Reverse osmosis (RO) is an under-sink drinking water system that pushes water through a very fine membrane. RO (drinking water) membranes reduce PFAS, lead, arsenic, nitrate, fluoride and most dissolved solids. Certification is claim by claim, so we install systems certified under NSF/ANSI 58 for the specific contaminants you care about, and we'll show you the listing.

Nobody is coming to sit at your kitchen table.

Most companies want to come test your water so they can sit at your table and sell. We don't need to: your utility publishes exactly what's in it, every year. The one visit before install day is a short look at where your water comes in, so the price we put in writing covers any extra plumbing work.
